May Meeting Minutes
May 10, 2008

Members:
Melissa Dunbar - Don Livingston
Lea Erwood - Millie Livingston
Heather Smith - Diana Aselage
Jane Loughmiller
Guest: Rick Bryant
Melissa called the meeting to order.
Since the last meeting was a informal meeting, there was no minutes for the last meeting, which was held at the Wendy’s Restaurant in Brownsburg, In. instead of Arbuckle Acres due to bad weather. At this informal meeting among the things discussed was a possibility of a do it yourself clinic for members, and a recap of Hoosier Horse Fair. I was decided to have a meeting in May to discuss further.
Heather gave the treasurers report: The club account has a balance of $1,625.54, largely due to the sale of the cookbooks, halters, increase in membership and registration for the up coming clinics.
The Treasurers report was approved.
Old Business:
Marry Morrow Clinic: The clinic will be this weekend at Spirit of Freedom Farm. There are approximately 3-4 openings for day one and only 4 participates for day 2. Lea inquired about a food concession. Since Diane Berg still had the hot dogs, buns etc from the picnic at Arbuckle and the club also still has chips available, and drinks, Lea volunteered to take care of the food concession. Since Heather will not be able to attend the clinic, Lea will also take care of the registration. If anyone would like to help out in either of these areas, please let Lea know.
Lea also suggested a Silent Auction for the next clinic, since it is too short of notice to do it for this clinic. Heather mentioned the last time the club did this, we did raise a good amount of funds for this.
Lea will also pick up 6 sheets of poster board to make signs for the clinic at the end of the entrance to the farm and to put out on the main roads to add in locating the clinic. Lea will also make up the menu price list for the concession.
Help day at Don & Millie Livingston, with Nick Bowman from the Mustang Makeover. June 7, at 1:00pm. Anyone needing directions, need to contact Susan. Please RSVP.
Jerry Munns clinic - June 14-15 at Spirit of Freedom Farm. Day 1 will be ground work, day 2 will be riding, Contact Jane for information.
Parelli Tour Stop - Madison, Wi - July 12-13 - Lea had free tickets, they have been given away already.
Heritage Festival - Peru, In. Aug. 22-24, Marry Morrow has offered to pay for the Booth, Lea will be manning the booth. Anyone wishing to help, please get with Lea. Lea will email details about the festival. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Fun Day at Melinda Hine’s- Sept. 13, meeting to follow. Time to be announced later.
New Business:
Diana suggested the idea of a Bake Sale. The date is tentatively set for Aug 2. From 10-2. Diana will check out to see if we can reserve this date at the Walmart in Brazil or the Walmart on 46 in Terre Haute. It would be neat to have baked goods from the cookbook.
Lea suggested a Do it yourself Clinic, using spooky objects at various stations to despook horses. With a possible friendly competition after .
Melissa mentioned that due to events that will be at Jane’s farm this year, the club will need to find a different place for clinics and meetings. If anyone has any suggestions, please contact Melissa.
Melinda Hine had mentioned thru emails that she had talked to Mark Burnette from the Midwest Mustang Challenge come and talk to the club. They request that Melinda see if she can set it up for Fall, maybe Sept or Oct.
Heather brought up the problem with getting the form 501C3 for our non for profit status, at this time, we are only recognized at a non for profit on a state level, not federal. She is checking out the cost and forms, and hopes to report accurate information by the next meeting.
